About Me
Who I Am — and Why This Matters to Me
Hi. I’m Jo, and at the heart of everything I do is a deep respect for the bond between people and their animals.
Like so many of my clients, I have loved dogs who were never “just pets”. They were companions, constants, family. One of the most meaningful photographs I own of my first dog, an adorably stubborn Westie, Jasper — is not technically perfect, but it shows him as I remember him. His character. His presence. The quiet comfort of having him by my side.
That photograph reminds me why this work matters because its a mobile phone photograph that couldn’t be enlarged and framed on my wall.
I know how quickly time passes, and how easy it is to think there will always be another day, another walk, another moment. I also know the regret of wishing you’d done something sooner. to ensure you had a lasting memory of an irreplaceable member of your family. That lived experience is what shapes the way I work — gently, thoughtfully, and without rushing what deserves care.
This isn’t about chasing perfect behaviour or picture‑perfect poses. It’s about honouring who your pet truly is, and what they mean to you.
How I Guide You Through the Experience
Choosing to have your pet photographed can feel surprisingly emotional. Many people aren’t sure what style of portrait they want, worry their dog won’t behave, or that they won’t know what to do.
My role is to take that weight off your shoulders.
I guide you through a calm, carefully considered experience from start to finish — one that feels reassuring, unhurried, and genuinely personal. I take time to understand you, your pet, and how you want to remember this chapter of your life together.
From our initial conversation, through the photography session itself, to designing artwork for your home, every step is intentional. You are never rushed, never pressured, and never expected to know what to do next — that’s what I’m here for.
This is what Jo Ferris had to say following her photography experience with her adorable boy Kenny:
“I was so thrilled with my photographs of my dog. Jo was so patient, creative and professional. So fortunate that they were taken as poor Kenny died suddenly in January. I look at his photograph and all the memories come back. Thank you”

2024 Highlight: 2 charity calendars
In October, I had the privilege of meeting some incredible people and their adorable dogs. I photographed 24 unique breeds to create two special calendars—one for Cancer Research featuring small breeds, and another for Mount Noddy Animal Rescue showcasing large breeds. Together, we raised an impressive £1,500 for these deserving charities.
A huge thank you to everyone involved—without your support, this goal would not have been possible!
Goal for 2025
In 2025, I'm on a mission to photograph as many different dog breeds as possible—and your pup could be the star of the show!
If you have a breed that isn’t yet featured on my Portfolio page, I’d love to hear from you. As a thank you, you’ll receive a complimentary photography session, with absolutely no strings attached.
