“I don’t just sell photographs. I guide people through a thoughtfully curated, start-to-finish experience that celebrates their pet’s place in the family — and turns it into meaningful artwork for their home.”

Have you ever found yourself thinking…

“My dog’s too wild for photos and has to stay on lead”

I often photograph dogs on lead, whether for safety reasons or because their training is a work in progress. However, my portfolio page doesn’t reflect this. Your dog can remain on lead for the entire portrait session if needed; I simply retouch it out of the artwork afterward.

"I’d love photos of my pet, but life’s just too busy”

The process is surprisingly quick, so it won’t take too much time for me to create some beautiful artwork that you can gaze upon and treasure forever. Portrait Sessions last for an hour or so and collectively you’ll spend no more than 4 hours with me, spread out over multiple weeks- I take care of everything!

"I have no idea how much dog photography costs”

This is a very common question, especially where bespoke artwork is concerned. The answer is probably less than you think! With payment plans available, most of my clients invest between £600 and £1500 on their wall collections. Some spend more, others less so I will always work within your budget.

Whether you’re in West Sussex, Hampshire, or Surrey, I am here to offer a bespoke dog photography experience that’s as personal and meaningful as the bond you share with your pet — helping you turn those feelings into beautiful artwork for your home.

What Sarah said:

Joanna's photography is so much more than just a photoshoot. She comes round to see what sort of photos you'd like, and she has so many ideas for shots and poses and to meet the dog (it's great that my Labrador got to know her in advance of the photo session).

On the day of the shoot Jo made it so fun and troubleshooted my excited puppy who doesn't stay still much! He really enjoyed himself.

After, she visited again and showed us the photos — they were AMAZING! Once I made the hard decision of choosing, she edited the ones I chose so they'd blend nicely and they were printed so beautifully! I would highly recommend and I would 100% use her again :)

“Most people don’t come to me knowing exactly what they want. I guide them with experience and care, so every decision is considered — and the finished artwork reflects that.”

What’s included:

  • A Consultation

This is your chance to share what makes your dog so special to you and what I need to capture. It’s a chance for everyone to get to know each other & if you’re unsure what you want, we can discuss this here, ensuring that the resulting artwork is absolutely perfect for you, your family, and home.

  • A Portrait Session

It’s time for your personalised 1-2 hour photography session at your preferred location where I will capture more than just simple snaps. Effortlessly capturing those special expressions that make your dog unique is what I do best, and all that happens right here.

  • A Design Consultation

Together, we will choose artwork that enhances your walls, creating personal and timeless pieces that also suit your home and budget. I am there to guide and advise on aesthetics and finishes, but it’s your entirely choice which images go up on your wall or sideboard.

  • A Complimentary Print

Without any other investment being required, every Portrait Session includes an 8” x 6” mounted print. That means that there is zero pressure to purchase any additional artwork alongside the print you receive from my photographic printer of choice.

What Andy said:

“Absolutely brilliant! Jo is caring not only to her customers but for their pets too. She took time to get to know my beagle Ruby and we had a great meeting before arranging the photo session. She talked about what to expect and how the session would work. On the day we met at the location I had chosen, we had a great couple of hours where Jo made sure Ruby and I were comfortable, nothing was too much trouble.

The outcome and photos are beyond what I expected and are simply beautiful. Highly recommend Jo- 5 stars. Thank you.”

What Charlotte said:

“I found Jo at an RSPCA day in Chichester, West Sussex. Before I'd even booked into the event, I saw her incredible animal portraits and just had to find out more about them! They took my breath away!

Jo came out for an introduction to meet my animals and get them used to her and to run through the options. I chose the package I wanted and couldn't wait to see the results! I wanted an Autumn theme, in a spot which was sentimental to my dogs.

When Jo came to take the pictures it was actually more straight forward then I was thinking! My cat also LOVED being the star attention and Jo was very patient whilst I gathered everyone into the right places and followed Jo's directions! (Couldn't believe it when she was lying on the wet floor!).

Jo went off and worked her magic on the photos and booked another appointment to come out and show me... Oh my goodness it was so emotional! The pictures were more than I could have ever wished for.

To capture my two old dogs was the best thing I could have done. The way both of them are sat together in the place they love is everything! I had tears.

For anyone wishing to capture their babies I would 100% recommend Jo. She's kind, honest and patient and a true artist. I will treasure these photographs forever. Thanks Jo!”

FAQs

Clients often come to me feeling unsure — these are some of the most common questions I’m asked before bookings:

  • Absolutely. Many of the animals I photograph are sensitive, nervous, or reactive. Sessions are calm, unhurried and shaped entirely around your pet’s comfort. We work at their pace, allowing time and space so they can relax and be themselves.

  • That’s completely normal — and expected. Dogs don’t need to be trained or posed. I photograph them as they are, often while walking, exploring or simply being themselves. Some of the most meaningful portraits come from these natural moments.

  • While dogs make up most of my work, I also photograph other animals including horses and companion pets. If your animal is part of your family, they’re welcome.

  • Yes — many clients choose to be photographed with their pet. I’ll gently guide you so it feels natural and relaxed, with no awkward posing. These portraits often become the most treasured pieces.

  • Sessions take place outdoors in carefully chosen locations such as woodland or beach settings, or somewhere meaningful to you. I’ll help you choose a location that suits your pet, your preferences, and the style of artwork you’d love for your home.

I primarily photograph in Sussex, Hampshire & Surrey but will happily travel further upon request.

  • If conditions aren’t right, we simply reschedule. There’s no pressure — your session should be enjoyable, relaxed and unhurried.

  • If you’re still unsure, it’s completely normal. A short no-obligation phone call is the easiest way to explore whether this experience is right for you and your pet.
